-Hydrotherapy-
Underwater Treadmill

What is Hydrotherapy?

  • Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water to create a partially non weight bearing environment for your dog to exercise in

  • This allows for a safe environment, to help build muscle mass, increase joint range of motion, reduce pain and inflammation and increase cardiovascular fitness

  • The water is kept at 30-32 degrees Celsius which allows for many therapeutic benefits

  • 5 minutes of Aquatic treadmill therapy is equivalent to about 20 minutes walking on land!

What is involved in a hydrotherapy session?

  • We will ask an overview of your dogs clinical history and their home management details i.e. daily exercise, diet, supplements etc

  • Static and dynamic assessment including a quick health check

  • Fitting of a harness

  • Shower to ensure your dog is clean and to warm their muscles

  • Your dog will then enter the treadmill and undergo their session

  • Post session your dog willl be showered again to rinse of the chlorinated water from the treadmill

  • Your dog will then be towel dried (hair drier used for dogs that tolerate it!). We recommend if its cold weather, that you bring a coat for your dog to wear on the journey home

  • Your appointment should last between 30 mins - 1 hour depending upon your dogs requirements
